Attorney Ana T. Yngelmo is a licensed New Jersey attorney who practices immigration law nationwide. Her interest in immigration law grew from her own family’s experience. Born in Cuba, her family immigrated to the United States when she was a child. She has lived the immigration system first hand. She was raised and schooled in Elizabeth, NJ where she graduated at the very top of her high school class. Shortly after she graduated from the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a family member was placed in deportation proceedings. She found the issues surrounding the case compelling on both a personal and substantive level. So much so, that she left a position in the finance industry to work with the immigration attorney handling her family member’s case. In that position, she was able to work on behalf of her family member as well as many other clients facing deportation.

Ms. Yngelmo enjoyed working with immigrant clients who trusted in her ability to help them with their cases. After seven years of assisting immigration attorneys, she decided to obtain her law degree as she wanted to continue to help the immigrant community, but in a more proactive and vital role.

Ms. Yngelmo excelled in law school, and took advantage of every opportunity to expand her knowledge of immigration law and gain practical experience in the immigration field. She interned at the Immigration Court, which gave her the opportunity to work alongside various Immigration Judges and gain insight into the decision-making process from the Court’s perspective. She worked at Seton Hall’s Immigrant Rights Clinic where she successfully represented a client who was the victim of domestic violence in applying for a victim visa. She also assisted in preparing a published report regarding workplace abuses of day laborers in New Jersey (Study Finds Exploitation of Day Laborers, New York Times, January 9, 2011).

Following law school, Ms. Yngelmo had the privilege of serving as the Law Clerk for a New Jersey Superior Court Judge. Just two years after graduating from law school, Ms. Yngelmo realized her dream of opening up a law practice dedicated exclusively to serving the immigrant community.

Ms. Yngelmo is well-versed in all aspects of immigration law. In addition to effective legal representation, she offers her clients a unique level of compassion and understanding as someone who has experienced a family member’s battle with the immigration system as well as her own families transition to a new country.

Ms. Yngelmo has volunteered hundreds of hours to educate NJ residents on immigration policy and law enforcement interactions through “Know Your Rights” presentations at local community organizations. She has also been a panelist and guest lecturer at Kean University.

In addition to the outstanding work she does for her immigration clients, Ms. Yngelmo is also Of Counsel to the law firm EPSTEIN OSTROVE, LLC with whom she collaborates on civil litigation matters.
